I appreciated that you were thoughtful, informative, and encouraging. You made what was a very trying situation tolerable and you provided me confidence when it was needed most.
Dear Nurse Larry, I'm writing this letter to thank you for how you treated me, and my wife, during my unfortunate stay at the hospital for COVID-related illnesses. I came into the emergency room in November and was later admitted. I spent 12 days recovering from pneumonia. On the day I was to go home, I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my left lung. I stayed one additional day and was subsequently discharged. You treated me for a number of those 12 days.

I understand part of your responsibilities is to make rounds and to work with patients accordingly. I wanted you to know that I felt your treatment of me, and our conversations went beyond the routine. I appreciated that you were thoughtful, informative, and encouraging. You made what was a very trying situation tolerable and you provided me confidence when it was needed most. You made a difference in an environment that has challenges I will never fully understand. For that, I will forever be grateful. However, I want to be clear, I am not grateful for how much enjoyment you got out of tearing sticky objects off my arms, legs, and chest. In these cases, you were just mean (hahaha).

Most importantly to me, is how you treated my wife. She was scared, and you were there. She was in desperate need of information, and you were there. She needed reassurance, and you were there. You took the time, time I'm quite certain was constantly under strain, to explain things. Your kindness was appreciated more than you may know.

Also, thank you for recommending Dr. H. My wife and I are both now patients of his. I have no idea if our paths will ever cross again, but I wanted to thank you for everything. I finally came off oxygen at home and am getting stronger every day. I will fully recover. Just wanted you to know you played a key role in that recovery process. Happy New Year to you and may God bless you and your family.
