Miss Carrie sat in a chair next to my father's bed and she rubbed his arms and calmed him down.
My father came in on Friday. I flew in on Sunday. I was upset and had no idea what to expect. My father is usually a very healthy man, even at 77. Now, let me get to my story. In a time where there is a pandemic and nurses are stretched thin and traveling from hospital to hospital. I wasn't expecting much from the staff, but much to my disbelief the entire staff that I came in contact with was extremely pleasant and helpful.
This started at the front entrance. I must say the entire staff is commendable. But there is one nurse that really stands out “Miss Carrie B”. She cared for my father as if he was her father. Not only did she care for my father, but she also constantly checked on me asking if I needed anything to drink, a pillow, cover or just anything at all. My father had suffered a stroke which was really hard for me. As I stated, I've never seen my dad sick a day in my life. He went down to have a procedure done and he was extremely agitated when he returned. He was trying to pull all his lines out. He even tried pulling his feeding tube out he had just received. Miss Carrie sat in a chair next to my father's bed and she rubbed his arms and calmed him down. I advised Miss Carrie I would do it so she can take care of another patient. She stated he is important to her and needed her right then. Tears began to fill in my eyes. They were tears of joy knowing she really cared about my father. Just the way she treated me, and my father speaks volume.
