Tieniesha worked with the family, assisted the father, and boosted both parents in their confidence in caring for their baby.
Tieniesha is a hard-working nurse and unsung leader. She works quietly to provide our patients with great service and excellent care. Tieniesha is the right mix of compassion, intelligence, and patience. Tieniesha can be found most days running from one team to the next helping her fellow nurses, MAs, and patients. Even with the staff shortages, Tieniesha continues to be committed, working tirelessly even if she is the only nurse running the floor so that others can work on the inbox, OBREG, or other things. She is an amazing patient advocate, putting their needs before hers.
Tieniesha takes leadership and works autonomously to resolve the needs of the Pecar team as well as the needs of our patients. Recently a provider gave Tieniesha a kudos titled "Amazing Nurse in Action during Nurses week", worthy of a DAISY Award: This particular infant has been admitted for much of the last 2 months at Riley and she has very complicated medical needs. Both parents are very overwhelmed. The mother in particular has been refusing to learn how to place the ng tube for the baby as she feels that she will pass out. The baby was brought into the clinic after having pulled out her ng tube and both parents were very stressed. Father needed someone to give him a bit more training but mostly the confidence to place the ng for baby's feed that she was now due. The doctor went and found Tieniesha to explain the situation. Tieniesha worked with the family, assisted the father, and boosted both parents in their confidence in caring for their baby. Both parents had a smile on their faces as they left the clinic. Tieniesha has accomplished something that the Riley nurses were unable to do during the baby's admissions. Tieniesha is exactly the type of nurse that we would all want along our side if we were stressed and overwhelmed with a medical situation or in time of need.
