This not only improved K’s health and wellbeing but also spoke to her soul as a fellow nurse.
Hilary's compassionate, and extraordinary care shines through each shift. Hilary’s calming nature and attention to detail spoke deeply to K and her family during a scary and uneasy time. Hilary encouraged and supported the bonding of K and her 5-day-old baby during a post-partum hospitalization due to preeclampsia. Hilary tended to K’s needs but never once forgot the needs of Dad and baby. She explained things in a way that didn’t bring added stress to K and showed confidence and expertise with her knowledge.

Meeting the basic needs of our patients is sometimes the small things that are forgotten during busy or critical times in nursing. Hilary remembered all the details! Bringing pillows, and blankets, offering fresh water, and bringing a crib to the bedside the night K was admitted. K expressed how seeing Hilary walk in to care for her each night she felt reassured and knew that her care was a top priority to Hilary. This not only improved K’s health and wellbeing but also spoke to her soul as a fellow nurse.

The compassion that Hilary showed has influenced K to take care of patients in the same compassionate way during her work shifts. K wants to thank Hilary for truly caring for her as a person and not just a room number and diagnosis. K states “Hilary is beyond deserving of The DAISY Award, as she exemplifies everything the Award stands for.”

Hilary, we are so proud of you as your team and work family. Thank you for all you do and the care you give our patients.
