The SNS nurses, especially Tara, Anna, and Jade, are incredibly caring and compassionate. I have regular appointments that require port access and close monitoring! They are dedicated to making sure my treatments go smoothly. This dear trio is dedicated to making sure each patient is treated like family. I have now been in treatment for 8 ½ years; I have spent over $1 million, and they are the best. I am so thankful for Anna, Jade, and Tara. IF HMC wants a face of caring, then the SNS team should be the model! These 3 women provide compassion and competency each and every day.

I am nominating the staff of Special Nursing as a group because they are ALL fabulous and very caring people. I have migraines that cause visits to Special Nursing about 3 times per month. I see them enough to feel like I have definitely seen the exceptional group that they are! To pick one above the other is impossible. Many times, two nurses will help me during the same visit. I see their teamwork and how they are each so willing to jump in and help. It’s not always that a person has the opportunity to watch an entire team work succinctly like these nurses do. I believe that comes from having the patients’ needs as their focus and being so hard working and committed to what they do – just makes them especially incredible. They also think of the little things. I’m usually cold, and they always have a blanket on my chair ready for me. They include my husband in my care and are aware that the lights and noise are hard on me. They block whatever light and noise they can while I am getting treated. Bedside manner is something that can’t be taught. I believe it stems from being genuine about patient needs and care and how those needs are met. Jade, Anna, Anne, and Tara are just so friendly and likable, and I always feel like I am in good hands. It is never fun to go to the hospital – for anyone! Yet, these ladies continue to amaze me with all the things they do to make my treatment as comfortable and speedy as possible. Thank you for EVERYTHING!

Several weeks ago, a severe bone infection and subsequent surgery necessitated daily appointments to Special nursing for intravenous antibiotics and dressing changes. Though my condition has required previous multiweek visits to Special Nursing during the past five years and I have received excellent care each time, I am compelled to nominate the present staff for the DAISY Team Award due to the outstanding level of care I’ve received in the past month. This includes Leah and Heidi too. The skill and compassion each nurse has demonstrated daily have made an unacceptable and humbling situation much more bearable. I’ve been so appreciative of their individual professionalism and kindness exhibited by the care in which they clean and dress the wound to the simple act of offering me a cup of coffee while I receive daily intravenous antibiotics. Moreover, each renounces the mental attitude that sometimes emerges in care situations and has always treated my concerns, anxieties, and fears with due consideration.

Finally (and only indirectly related to my care), each of the nurses nominated has demonstrated service to their profession by mentoring current nursing students from FHSU and NCK Tech as they undergo their clinicals. In the past few weeks, Ann, Anna, Jade & Tara have just been terrific in sharing their experience and knowledge with these students. In short, HaysMed should be exceedingly proud of this group of nurses staffing Special Nursing, and each merits recognition and appreciation.
