One early morning Jesined came in carrying a Mcdonald's breakfast, and she said, "this is for our patient in room X, this will make his day."
I would like to take the opportunity to recognize one of our direct patient care RNs Jesined Core for her compassion, positive attitude, and energy she always displays to her patients, their families, and colleagues. Jesined on many occasions has been assigned patients who are demented secondary to recent brain injuries or chronic medical conditions, and she willingly accepts her assignments. Jesined plays music for them, brings them out to the Nurses' station in an effort to distract them and prevent them from pulling on their catheters and trying to get out of bed.
Most recently we had a patient who was difficult to please in regards to his meals while in the department. This patient was on a regular diet, so dietary restrictions were not an issue. Day after day, he would complain of something being missed in his tray, or food just not tasting right. In an effort to do Service Recovery on this patient, we had the Dietary team come on numerous occasions. One early morning Jesined came in carrying a Mcdonald's breakfast, and she said, "this is for our patient in room X, this will make his day." It surely did, he had no complaints on that day, and he thanked Jesined over and over again that morning.
There have been several examples over this past year of knowing Jesined of how she really goes above, and beyond to please her patients, taking the extra time to listen to them, and provide kind gestures to keep them comfortable, she truly shows passion in the work she does as a Rehab RN.
