He encouraged my husband throughout his stay on the unit to be strong, to be independent, and breathe.
My husband was rushed to JFK for neurological issues. From the moment Christopher took care of him to the time of discharge, I knew he was well taken care of. We (my husband and I) were very stressed, anxious, and fearful. We had been in and out of the hospital all of February 2022 with no answers as to what was happening. Christopher allayed all those fears by doing one of the most important things most nurses forget to do - he treated us like humans. He took time to educate us on every med, and the reasons for tests (when the doctors couldn’t). He used his sense of humor to lighten up the mood. He went above and beyond.

Along with his nursing judgments and competency, he knew the urgency of getting things done so we could start treatment. He was able to call for diagnostic imaging and have my husband’s scan done right away which could have delayed treatments. This shows he really cares and wants to keep my husband safe. Christopher used his assessment skills to catch a “bad IV” before it infiltrated. He addressed and responded to my husband's severe pain in a timely manner. He encouraged my husband throughout his stay on the unit to be strong, to be independent, and breathe.

Christopher encouraged me to be strong for my husband also. Christopher saw my husband and I cry because we were scared and because no one wants to hear a diagnosis like the one my husband received. Christopher provided a shoulder to cry on (masked of course) and was not judgmental at all. He offered us water and tissues which although a simple gesture is often overlooked. That simple gesture provided so much comfort with this new diagnosis. Christopher was so patient with all of our questions. If he did not know an answer, he would find someone who did. He knew to ask the doctor for a pain management consult because he felt my husband needed better pain management. Since that consultation was initiated, my husband’s pain has been better.

Christopher really took care of us during this daunting experience had it not been for Christopher's initiative/proactivity and sound nursing judgment/critical thinking, my husband’s prognosis could have been worse if care was delayed. Words cannot express how thankful we are to have had Christopher as our nurse.
