I recently was admitted to the Special Care Unit at Pen Bay. During the five-day stay, I had wonderful care from RNs and CNAs. However, there was one nurse who was exceptional. Not only did I get the necessary care, but he also went above and beyond to spend the time needed for me to understand why and how this treatment was given. He was always professional but patient and kind as well. He attended to all my needs so willingly and with extra care that showed his respect for his job as a nurse. Nursing is a very special profession. Many are efficient in their duties but not all exude the extra qualities that I found in this nurse. It was truly a pleasure to have him as a caregiver.
