He was the perfect mix of energetic, positive and upbeat. He set such a good tone for our hospital stay.
Tim went above and beyond as my son’s nurse. My son M is five years old and has special needs. I knew that some parts of the hospital stay would be difficult for him because he’s a kid who can barely tolerate even a band aid. Tim was our night nurse the first night in the hospital when everything was fresh, new, and scary for our boy. He had selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery earlier that day, was in quite a bit of pain, and needed to stay flat on his back for three days. Tim took the time to explain things to M in a way that was just right for his developmental delay. He was the perfect mix of energetic, positive and upbeat. He set such a good tone for our hospital stay and I truly believe that he’s the reason our son has been able to tolerate the IV, the numerous cords, and his catheter the way he has.

As a mother, one of the worst things is to see your child in pain. Right before we met Tim, I had gone upstairs to the family resource center to have a good cry in the shower because the day had been so hard for me. I was feeling completely overwhelmed. Tim was not only the perfect nurse for M, but also for me. He was patient, thorough, quick to check in, and took time to explain things to me multiple times. I can’t say enough good things about Tim and how lucky Seattle Children’s hospital (and his patients) are to have him care for them.
