Sarah helped me through anxiety, frustration, doubts, and questions. She helped me in an authentic way. She is very real, compassionate, kind, and caring.
Weeks ago, I was admitted to the hospital for extreme weakness in my legs. It was a difficult transition from the UW hospital to here. There are different ways of doing things, different staff, and varying expectations. Sarah was like someone I had known for a long time, an old friend, that was instantly friendly and supportive. Sarah helped me through anxiety, frustration, doubts, and questions. She helped me in an authentic way. She is very real, compassionate, kind, and caring. Her entire demeanor is focused on friendliness, compassion, and a desire to help everyone work together to succeed.

It is rare to find someone who makes you feel like you could live much longer. Often nurses do not realize the power they possess in making a patient feel they have the power to live or the power to die just in the way they treat you. Sarah realizes that and definitely makes a patient feel listened to, valuable, and like a human being instead of a sick, invaluable individual. Also, Sarah instills value in what the patient feels as relevant to the diagnosis and to whether or not the diagnosis is working for the patient or not. Sarah makes it feel as though she has time to talk. Oftentimes medical professionals make one feel as if they are on a clock. Sarah gives her time to express her opinion without rushing you or making you feel invaluable or talked up to.

I have always felt respected by Sarah and more than that, as if I am valued as a human being, as an equal in discussion. She is helpful with everything and is below nothing. She is a perfect example of a servant leader. Sarah makes me always feel comfortable, welcome, and as if I know my own body. In review, Sarah shows herself to be very human, treating others as competent human beings. All the nurses here, for the most part, were great but Sarah was so genuine, there was no mistaking her goodness. Thank you for the opportunity to work with her. She is the example by which nurses should follow.
