No other nurse has gone above and beyond like her, as Lauren made this hospital stay worry-free for me!
I want to nominate Lauren, the incredibly kind, sweet, hardworking, and extremely competent nurse, for the DAISY Award because she went above and beyond to help care for me during my hospitalization here. Even though all she is required to do is give me medicines and other duties as a nurse, she noticed I was alone during my stay here and took time from her busy schedule to talk to me like a friend would so I wouldn’t feel alone. Even if all she had was 5 minutes to spare while giving me medicine in my room, she would cheer me up with her friendly attitude and talk about normal things so I wouldn’t even feel like I’m in the hospital.

Once, I was pretty hungry and dinner wasn’t served yet. I only told her that I feel incredibly hungry and tired, but I need to go to the cafe downstairs to get food for myself as I was alone. She noticed that I had low blood pressure and had fainted before, so she went ahead and brought some food for me to make sure I’d be safe! She even said if that isn’t enough food for me that she’d walk with me downstairs to get food so I could not faint and also get food, but thankfully what she brought for me was enough.

At one point, I randomly asked her for advice about the working world as I’m a college student. Even though she didn’t have to reply back, she went ahead and gave me useful advice about hard work and how to achieve your personal goals in life. There were plenty of times that I was too tired to get water for myself, and she offered and would get me iced water every single time I ran out! She’d never make me feel bad for requesting something and say, “That’s what we’re here for.” I also had 2 exams to take while in the hospital and I’m sure you can guess just how tough it is to do so while here. However, I told her about it and she would cheer me on, saying "Good luck" and even made sure I wasn’t disturbed by someone walking in my room while taking it. I was able to get a 88 and 92 just because of her, while I usually do worse on exams in the hospital because of all the disruptions. There’s so much she’s done for me that I’m so grateful for! No other nurse has gone above and beyond like her, as Lauren made this hospital stay worry-free for me! If I ever get hospitalized again, I’d like for her to care for me.
