I had been in the hospital 4 days after fracturing my hip and had to have a right total hip replacement. Some of my experiences had not been very pleasant at all, but it takes one special nurse to make you forget about the bad experiences.

After introducing herself the first thing she did was check my pedal pulses. I have only had one other nurse do that my entire stay and with my type of injury, it is imperative that this be done. She asked me what my pain level was after which she gave me pain medication immediately. A short while later she came back in to inquire about my pain level - after the medication was given. I told her she was the first nurse to come back and ask me what my pain level was after the pain meds.

Today was a very busy day, but whenever she came in she was emptying my Foley catheter (technically that is the CNAs job) or something else. Dianna was always right there whenever I rang the bell. I know how very difficult and challenging it is to be a nurse, I have been in healthcare for 45 years and I have seen the worst of the worst. I am all about patient satisfaction and always putting a smile on your face. My motto is to “start each day with a smile” and that is what Dianna did for me. She was the light at the end of the tunnel, and I so appreciate her and her AWESOMENESS!!
