Ayodeji (DJ) Folami RN provided care for me the day after a recent extensive angioplasty procedure. As ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church, I find the provision of my healthcare is always more heart-felt when my caregivers are also people of faith. DJ is such a person. He has a passion for his compassionate care I found to be delightful and beneficial. He has a light and joy about him that are infectious in a good way. As he introduced himself to me at shift change that morning, he said he likes to start his day with prayer with his patients as they are comfortable and as they allow. As a pastor, I was more than pleased to have my nurse pray directly for me and with me. His faith fuels his caregiving. He is one of those providers who cares as much about a patient's well-being as he does about their being well. That matters. A lot. As I told DJ after our interaction that morning what he does matters. But how he does what he does and why he does what he does matters even more. It is my blessing to commend and recognize Ayodeji "DJ" Folami RN for consideration for The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Please give him your highest recognition for his professionalism and compassionate caregiving.
