Recently I came in for surgery. I have had an awful experience with surgeries in the past. I was as anxious as I could possibly be. I came in crying knowing I trusted the surgeon whom I was putting my life in his hands but still my anxiety got the best of me. I knew Hannah was busy with other patients but every chance she got she came in to comfort me. We exchanged stories of our children and families to keep me distracted. She used humor and sarcasm to make me laugh over all my tears. She could tell by my blood pressure I was in quite a bit of pain and asked the doctor for something to make me more comfortable immediately. She got my IV on the first try!

Her professionalism and compassion truly amazed me. She continued to work efficiently while keeping me preoccupied. After surgery I had to stay overnight in the hospital. The next morning she came up to my room to visit me and see how I was doing. Bright and early before her shift even started. With all the chaos in her personal life, 3 babies under two, she didn’t have time nor did she have to do that. She even brought me a donut because she asked my favorite treat and said she’d buy me one after surgery if I just stopped crying. Hannah is the perfect example of an exemplary nurse. I’ve had nurses in the past in surgery who do their job and leave. No personality no compassion. That wasn’t Hannah. I wish all nurses could be just like her! Thank you for your extraordinary care Hannah. You will never know how much it all truly meant to me.
