Nurse Langford ran to the scene with two other nurses. She handled the scene like an expert.
We had 10 inmates overdose on the Rec Yard one evening. It was a chaotic situation and all of the inmates were throwing up, bleeding, and in and out of consciousness. Nurse Langford ran to the scene with two other nurses. She handled the scene like an expert. She gave CPR to one inmate who was dying while giving instructions to inmates and other nurses and officers to assist the other inmates. She worked throughout the night to help the inmates with different levels of needs. Some had to be sent to the hospital but many stayed at HCC under her care. She worked tirelessly for over 14 hours caring for inmates with no consideration for herself. When I came in the next morning she was still there working on reports in clothes that still had bodily fluids on them because she couldn't get out of the institution to change. If Nurse Langford hadn't taken command of the scene we definitely would have had more than one fatality. Nurse Langford is a hero and she saved lives that day. It was a couple of years ago but she was never recognized for her heroism.
