Changes are never easy unless you're led by Sharon. She is ready to jump in and help wherever needed.
The nursing profession is rooted in providing the most effective and efficient processes to reach successful patient outcomes. This is especially important in high-risk environments with obstacles and setbacks. Sharon has always been a patient advocate by putting their needs and safety first. She is always calm, personable, and professional. Her knowledge in ambulatory surgical care has helped guide team members for over six years. A challenge presented itself when a change of ownership occurred at the outpatient facility. This meant a major transition for staff, equipment, EMR, and policies. Sharon went the extra mile to confirm the facility was ready to open for patient care. “Being a nurse is knowing when to turn on your tough.. and when to turn on your human.. and finding the balance in between for those in need.” Changes are never easy unless you're led by Sharon. She is ready to jump in and help wherever needed. Does PACU need help walking a patient out? She's there. Does the OR need an extra hand to clean and turn over the room? Here comes Sharon. Does preop have a delay because they're short-staffed? Sharon will be there to help. Sharon is one of the first ones in the door and the last to leave. Her commitment stems from the knowledge that these processes are the backbone of patient safety. These are the tasks a patient doesn't see; the behind-the-scenes sacrifice of wearing many hats to get the job done. Nurses need more role models, leadership needs more Sharon's.
