Being admitted into isolation for COVID Pneumonia was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. (And I am currently in remission for Breast Cancer!) The constant struggle to breathe was terrifying, and from the minute I was admitted Mercedes was there as a calming, extremely knowledgeable hands-on caregiver. Her nursing skills were evident, expressed in a calm, confident manner that was very much needed during that scary week.

It shows when a nurse loves her job, and it's evident Mercedes loves hers. She takes the time to explain treatments and their desired effects, calmly answered all questions, ensured my comfort, and became a friend. She never just ran in, handed me the meds and started treatments, and ran out. She took the time needed to follow through and ensure everything was done perfectly and I had everything I needed. I know that the type of care Mercedes provided ensured my continuous recovery. She also took the time to follow through with my daughter who was as scared as I was - and not being allowed to visit. It was so important to her mental well-being. Mercedes made sure all her questions were answered and she was confident I was getting the best care possible and would not be discharged until I was ready.

Having that type of nurse during this unpredictable disease made all of the difference. She is skilled, caring and compassionate, and knowledgeable. She even went out of her way at 1 am before I was discharged to celebrate the good news that I received! All your staff was incredible and she stood out above and beyond. Riverview is incredibly lucky to have this amazing nurse on staff.
