Miranda was friendly and flexible with the change and more than willing to take on this new surgical population while still caring for her oncology population.
Miranda is a nurse on 4BC, Oncology; she joined our team in December when her previous unit (3D) and 4 BC combined. Miranda was friendly and flexible with the change and more than willing to take on this new surgical population while still caring for her oncology population. Miranda is one of very few oncology certified inpatient nurses at All Saints (3 in total). Of those who are oncology certified Miranda was the only day shift RN certified for quite some time due to another RN’s leave of absence. Miranda has been extremely flexible and accommodating to ensure patients needing inpatient chemotherapy are properly cared for. She rearranges her own schedule, stays late, picks up additional hours, and changes units/assignments often (usually very last minute) to accommodate chemotherapy needs.

She has gone above and beyond to rearrange her own patient workload to take on additional patients to help. She is an invaluable resource, often answering questions about patients and chemotherapy who are not even on our unit. She is frequently “consulted” by other RNs, managers, and physicians, who have questions about administering chemotherapy and is able to do all of this while taking care of her own assignment. Miranda frequently puts her patients and their needs above her own to ensure they receive the proper care. She is always helpful, accommodating, and flexible and I am ever so grateful for her to be on our unit.
