My father had 5 seizures and unfortunately I needed to approve him being out into a medically induced coma. My mother passed in 2018 and unfortunately this was the 2nd time I have gone through this with my father. I constantly have to do these things by myself due to the fact I’m his only son and he is not remarried. That being said, last night I broke down. Watching my dad with a tube down his throat I was on my knees crying (I’m usually not a crier) praying for him to get better. Vu (who was his nurse that day) came into the room and began to explain everything that has gone on and will happen. I noticed he started to get my mind off my father by asking questions about Harleys (because he saw my father’s tattoo). That led to a 20 minute conversation where another nurse came to him and asked a question. Low and behold he was off his 12hr shift and saw me and decided to stay with me.

My father is all I have and I felt so alone that moment. Vu went above and beyond to stay there for me and emotionally support/distract me and befriended me. All of this while being off his shift I’m sure tired and on his way home. We need more people like him who care about not only doing their job but people as well. I will forever be grateful for the extra 20 miutes. he spent with me and caring for me when I was there all alone. Thank you, Vu, and I hope you are recognized for one of the most selfless things I have ever seen someone do.
