Preston floated to 2100 and admitted a patient into a room. Once he started talking with her, he found out her husband was admitted on our floor in another room. Preston went to the charge nurse to advocate for them to get to see one another. The special thing is, that her husband has dementia and is from memory care, so they do not get to see each other often. Preston took her to his room and helped her mask up because he was positive for the Flu. The minute they saw one another, they were so happy and he was trying to take her mask off to kiss her. We explained that we didn’t want to get her sick, but he could kiss her on the forehead. He does not remember his kids, but he always remembers her and they will be married 68 years this year. Preston displayed so much care and compassion ensuring they could see one another. We need more acts like this.
