As a preceptor, Rachel shines. She has shared her knowledge, skills, and team-based approach with several new hires, and agency nurses alike.
Nursing is a profession that has grown to be one of the most remarkable fields. There are endless opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. However, it has to be recognized that at our core, nursing is a gift that comes from the heart of those who hold the title. A helping hand, a kind smile, words of encouragement, superior critical thinking skills, and a team-oriented, patient-centered attitude are not taught to us in nursing school, or the clinical setting. They are the mark of the individual, and what we each bring to our role. Rachel demonstrates these qualities, and more, each time she comes to work. As a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, we expect the unexpected, and take on challenges most shy away from, however, none of this could be done without a helping hand from one another. Rachel, although not a fan of the numerous times she is assigned the role of “charge nurse”, always goes above and beyond to help her co-workers, her team, when the unit needs her the most. She is the first one to assist with an admission, an emergent situation, or a quick boost. Her smile, laugh, and pleasant attitude bring about a more positive atmosphere to the unit. As a preceptor, Rachel shines. She has shared her knowledge, skills, and team-based approach with several new hires, and agency nurses alike. The unit would not be as bright if it was not for Rachel and all of the hard work she displays each and every time she shows up. We are so fortunate you are on our team
