At the end of my ER visit, I felt a deep appreciation for Alyssa – a true example of how a nurse should treat a patient.
After 2 days of feeling cold, sluggish and having some vomiting with a lot of diarrhea, I asked my wife to take me to the ER. On first meeting her, I knew we had the right person to take care of my needs. She was very friendly and upbeat, even assuring me that she “had my back” and would make sure that all tests and their results would be given to me as soon as they were received. During the 4-hours I was in the ER, she kept checking to see if I needed anything and was comfortable. When I said I felt chilled, she brought me a warm blanket. Throughout my visit, she explained all procedures clearly and even made light of the things she had to do to help determine my problem. Without being overly upbeat, she assured me that I was not the only one in this situation. I am one who likes to joke around and she picked up on that making my visit as pleasant as possible, considering my situation. With other patients to also care for, I felt she had her mind and heart on getting me diagnosed and back home. She explained everything clearly and both my wife and I appreciated everything she did for me. At the end of my ER visit, I felt a deep appreciation for her – a true example of how a nurse should treat a patient. I can’t thank her enough for the great care and concern she showed me. I will never forget the compassion she showed and the light-hearted joyfulness she exhibited during my ER visit.
