I was afraid to hold my baby. I was afraid to touch him and hurt him. Stacy was literally a shining star in my life.
My son was born at 32 weeks because I became very ill with Preeclampsia and Hellp Syndrome. This was my first child and I'm no longer able to have kids. I became very stressed and terrified for my child. He was born under 4 pounds, and I wasn't able to see him the day he was born due to being sick.
Once I went to the NICU I became very overwhelmed and scared. I was afraid to hold my baby. I was afraid to touch him and hurt him. Stacy was literally a shining star in my life. Due to being put on Lasix, I lost my milk supply. She stood by and not only took care of my son like he was her own, but she supported me on days when I was emotionally unstable as she knew I didn't have family here. I couldn't care for my son like I wanted to. I struggled and would try anything to get my milk supply back. Stacy helped me relax and showed me that my son was a mini superhero.
On days that I was extremely afraid when he went in for his small procedures and tests. She stood by his side for me when I wasn't able to. She was there to support me because she knew I needed her the most. When I knew she was working I knew my son had the best care possible. I was able to breathe those days and heal. She went above and beyond to make sure he was taken care of.
I ended up getting shingles from the stress that my body had been through. She even supported me mentally and let me know she would care for my son when I wasn't able to go see him. My son left the NICU after 7 weeks. At that point, I knew Stacy was his angel and will continue to be!
