For this specific instance, Cherokee had her own set of patients on H pod. There was a patient on G pod whom she had previously as a patient. She has been with us for months. She brought detangling spray and a brush from home at 0615 which is close to report time. She came over and did the patient's hair and provided her with some comfort. After spending some time with the patient, Cherokee found out that the patient normally always starts her day by getting ready always getting all dolled up. From the generosity and goodness of her heart, Cherokee came back the next night and brought the patient an eyeshadow palette in hopes of bringing back some normalcy to the patient's life. This is not the only time she has done this. This is a frequent thing she does to make sure our patients are extra comfortable during their stay here.

Cherokee is an outstanding nurse. When I was very sick my wife was approved by risk management to sleep overnight with me in my room because I was so anxious. Cherokee took very good care of me and made sure my wife had extra pillows and blankets. She even offered her coffee the next morning. Cherokee also would write down motivating notes and goals on my whiteboard. I felt motivated to accomplish my goals for the day because of her encouragement. I felt like she really made my care very personable. She made a lasting impression on me and my family. I truly appreciate all her hard work. Please give her a DAISY Award and hug from me!
