She was upset no one had informed me of the plan. She stayed with me held my hand and calmly told me it would be ok.
I was extremely blessed to have Natalie as my nurse for multiple days during my stay. Sometimes you meet people who just feel like family and Natalie was one of those people. From the moment I was admitted to the floor, she was caring compassionate empathetic, and took the time to explain what was going on. If there was ever something that we were unsure about she was quick to call someone and try to figure it out. After the doctor would come in to discuss things Natalie always made sure I understood what they said. These traits were very much appreciated the morning of my final procedure. The day before I was told my liver labs were abnormal and they were looking further into it.

The morning of my procedure someone came in right before shift change and did a chest x-ray. I was not notified of any plan for this and it made me very nervous. I started to freak out and wonder what was going on and was afraid my procedure would be canceled. As soon as I saw that Natalie was my nurse that morning I knew she would figure out what was happening and why. She was upset no one had informed me of the plan. She stayed with me held my hand and calmly told me it would be ok. She also talked with the nurse practitioner right away and found out it was all just precautionary. I was so relieved and felt so much better about everything.

I ended up having a successful procedure later that day and was discharged 2 days later (sooner than I thought!). I never got to say "Bye" or thank Natalie for the amazing care she provided for treating me like family and for talking me off of the ledge whenever I needed it. She is an angel on earth. Any patient she cares for is blessed and HUP is extremely lucky to have her as part of its staff. Thank you Natalie for everything you have done for me and my family. We will never forget it!
