She exuded a wonderful atmosphere of nursing abilities and a steadfast desire to fully use them. Her sincerity, kindness, and consideration were greatly apparent.
My husband, B, has had stage 4 terminal cancer. We have been in and out of doctors' offices and hospitals and trials and everywhere medically for years constantly. We have had ALL kinds of caretakers. IN ALL OF THOSE TIMES WE HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN TREATED AS NICE OR HAVE FELT MORE SPECIAL. She truly made us feel like we were her only patient and we were not. Not one time did she hurry us along or act like she wasn't listening. I am in the largest industry in the world that has to deal with people and the public. I have been told a million times that I was “one in a million.” I now know that is not true. There are others just as nice and caring and loving as me OR there is at least one for sure. PB is Number #1. I hope you REALLY take this seriously. She made ALL the difference in the world.

I had a procedure to have a stent in my right leg. Pamela (PB) was my nurse after the procedure, and she made me feel so comfortable and was so friendly and caring. PB was always checking on me and laughing with me and my husband and just made us feel so relaxed. After laying 6 hours after the procedure, PB and my husband were helping me walk to the bathroom before being discharged on that day. Before I had closed the bathroom door I knew something was wrong. I looked down and I was bleeding out! Blood was everywhere. My husband told me that PB picked me up and put me in bed and screamed for help since I was bleeding out from a hematoma. The Head nurse and others rushed into the room to assist. I specifically remember PB holding my head and yelling into my face, ‘Do not go to sleep! Wake up! Look at me!’ and trying to calm me down. All I wanted to do was go to sleep and PB would not let me. (She kept) yelling at me to wake up while the head nurse had taken over to try and stop the bleeding from the hematoma and other nurses were helping in the room. I don’t remember a lot after that, but I do know that if PB would not have acted immediately I would not be alive. I truly believe this!

My husband was with me through this entire ordeal. He was very upset and told me exactly what happened and said PB was worried and upset and was wonderful while helping me through this ordeal. I was admitted and transferred to another room and had to spend the night in the hospital, and PB came to check on me before her shift ended. I have been wanting to contact PB since this happened and found your DAISY Award Form online. I would love to send a personal thank-you card to PB for everything she did! I truly believe she is a DAISY Nurse.

My daughter was in the hospital for a heart procedure and while sitting beside her bed waiting for the heart doctor, I fought fears and tears. Nurse Pamela Beth Pilet walked in with a sweet smile. She exuded a wonderful atmosphere of nursing abilities and a steadfast desire to fully use them. Her sincerity, kindness, and consideration were greatly apparent. I was a deeply concerned mother and instantly felt that I needed her encouragement and reassurance as much as my daughter needed her nursing skills. She was truly a welcome light in the painful darkness of my growing concerns, but her gentle words of wisdom for both of us banished my worries and she eventually brought smiles to our faces. After answering our questions, she checked my daughter and made certain of her comfort. She then left to tend to other matters but came back often, much to our delight and appreciation. After earlier hearing my daughter comment about my love for coffee, she brought me some, knowing that I didn't want to leave the room. I was sure that her sweet demeanor and the kindness in her heart were born in her and added to that, education and learning made her the amazing nurse that she surely is. My daughter and I both felt that we were blessed to meet her and on a scale of I to 10, nurse Pamela was far beyond. Due to a chest rash, my daughter's surgery was postponed and we left, expressing the hope that we would have nurse Pamela on the next appointment. I sincerely felt like I had left a family member after we told her goodbye. After witnessing her kindness, consideration, and nursing skills, I realized how much a patient's waiting family needs and greatly benefits from the care and presence of the nurse who cares for their loved one in a hospital bed. Our admiration, thankfulness, and love for nurse Pamela Beth Pilet will always be.
