Heath was the first nurse that I got to talk to after my husband, D, came out of surgery with 6 bypasses. I went back to ICU around midnight and Heath was there with him. He had such a calming presence and explained to me what all of the machines were doing to help my husband, what steps would happen next, and reassured me that D was doing great. That first night I was not able to stay with D, but Heath called me before leaving his shift the next morning and gave me an update on how the night went. That night, Heath was our nurse again and we were thrilled. He was so compassionate, gave me a great overview of what D would be facing over the next few days, and had a demeanor that helped calm my fears and deal with the shock of this very unexpected surgery. I will forever be grateful that Heath was the nurse assigned to my husband post-surgery. He made a very fearful, scary situation so much better with his knowledge and compassion.
