Georgia not only does her job professionally and efficiently, but she has a light about her that made an extremely scary and painful situation for me and my family a bit easier to bear.
I was brought to the ER in severe pain and quickly sent for emergency surgery to repair a ruptured diverticulum. I can't say enough about the entire experience there! My care was exemplary in spite of staff that was clearly stretched thin. There are many "stand-outs". I wish I could name them all but there was one who made an immediate and lasting impression.
Georgia was my pre-op nurse, then later moved to the floor where she took care of me for two additional shifts. She was there at my discharge. Georgia not only does her job professionally and efficiently, but she has a light about her that made an extremely scary and painful situation for me and my family a bit easier to bear. She popped into the pre-op area and immediately started singing; just lightened my very dark morning in a way I'm not sure anyone else could have. I had an episode when PT got me up to sit in a chair and my blood pressure tanked, so when I pressed the call button Georgia responded immediately and got in touch with my doctor. She was so confident and capable that I was reassured I would be fine. She explained very clearly what they believed had caused the episode and what would be done to ensure it didn't happen again.
Besides her regular shifts, Georgia came to check on my daily. It meant so much to know how much the staff truly cares for the patients, how they cared for Me! I was one of many patients in the hospital but felt like I was cared for as if I was the only patient.
Note: This is Georgia's 2nd DAISY Award!
