I hobbled into the ER with what turned to be a bleeding ulcer, but I am also susceptible to developing colon cancer. Going in, nobody knew just where the bleeding was located. My father died of brain cancer, recently my brother died after a long struggle with MDS and another brother lost a kidney and part of his bladder to cancer. I really thought I was next. After a comfortless night in a hospital bed, I was awakened to Gypsy‘s introductions as my nurse. She was very affable for those two days; her demeanor was cordial as much as it was professional. While allying my private fears over the ensuing GI endoscopy, she helped me relieve my agitation by explaining what the doctors would be doing as well as attending to my physical comforts. This was especially stress relieving as I have always had an aversion to needles, medicine and doctors.

Gypsy took enough time to listen to my personal situation to find reading material to keep my mind occupied. Whenever I had a question, medical administrative or casual, she gave me her complete and undivided attention. Gypsy was a spearhead among all the staff involved with helping me get back to my energetic self. If circumstances ever compel my return, I hope she will be one of my nurses. She was the best nurse I can remember seeming to have in the last 40 years.
