While performing an aeromedical evacuation mission, CPT Rabusa provided the necessary nursing procedures to attend to the five wounded-in-action soldiers, one of whom was in critical condition, however, in an unfortunate turn of events, the air asset suddenly wobbled, lost its balance mid-air and crashed into the ground. In a fainting scene one never dreamt of, CPT Rabusa found himself trapped inside the helicopter together with the passengers. He then gathered all his remaining strength to assist the patients out of the air asset and got them to safety. Only after ensuring the safety of his patients that he realized he fractured his left arm. The following day, a rescue helicopter was sent to air transport them for their definitive medical care. Again, in an ill-fated event, the rescue helicopter which they had boarded underwent a mishap. These unfortunate events truly showcased CPT Rabusa’s stability under pressure, and his innate kindness to serve. Even in those near-death incidents, he placed his mission before his personal safety and comfort which is a true testament to CPT Rabusa’s strong dedication as a nurse, and as a military officer.
