At times I was emotional, and she helped create the space and time for me to deal with those emotions.
The feelings of helplessness and anxiety as a patient can be overwhelming when confronting a medical emergency. Molly Powers was one of my nurses in the CCU. At every turn, she treated my medical condition and my mental well-being. Nurse Powers took the time to answer my questions and find answers if necessary. She was honest and caring in all of her explanations. Dignity and privacy are not easy to come by in the CCU, but Nurse Powers put me at ease. At times I was emotional, and she helped create the space and time for me to deal with those emotions. When I needed levity, she helped me laugh just as quickly as she was to dry my tears. The doctor decided to discharge me with a medication requiring twice a day injections; Nurse Powers walked my husband and me through the process. She helped my husband practice giving injections until he was confident. Nurse Molly Powers is the embodiment of human kindness. The best thing I can say is I hope every patient at St. Vincent is blessed with a nurse as skilled as Molly.
