These tough cases come around once in a great while. It is truly a great nurse who can take ownership and see a patient through his tough time to get him to a better place.
Allison is just the kindest person. If ever I had a question, she ALWAYS got back to me within minutes even after hours. This girl went above and beyond. She is an AMAZING nurse. Anybody who is in her care will have nothing but the best! She made sure you were well informed about everything taking place in your care. I could not imagine being taken care of by someone else. She was a Godsend to me and my family.

The very first day I met Allison, she was extremely caring, knowledgeable, and personable. She told me flat out this is what we need to do to make you heal and get you past this nasty chapter of your life. She pushed me, which was exactly what I wanted and needed. I asked her the first day if she was going to be my nurse all the time. She said, do you want me to be? I told her yes, I request you! We have been a perfect match ever since. One thing that does stand out is three days after my reversal surgery (removing ostomy and putting my colon back together), Allison made a house call to change my new dressing. When she removed my dressing, my colon had escaped through the stapled incision and was ballooning outside my body. Allison kept me calm and pushed my colon back in, packed it with saline-soaked gauze, called my surgeon, and had her meet me at the hospital to do emergency surgery to put it back where it belonged. My surgeon and I were VERY impressed with Allison’s quick thinking and ability to take care of this unexpected problem professionally and calmly. Because of Allison’s quick response, she had me all prepped and ready to go back into surgery when my surgeon got there. Thank you, Allison, for taking care of me and caring so much about my well-being!

Once in a great while we get a patient who needs a lot of attention to get them back on track. This patient had a lot going on with little support. He wasn’t taking the correct meds; his wife did not want to be involved in his healthcare. He had legs that wept so much that the bandages needed changing daily. He had several nurses see him, but Allison took ownership of him. She invested in the time to get meds clarifications, and asked the wife to pick up his meds several times as she did not want to because she “can’t stand that he is not getting better.” Allison worked with a Mendota wound nurse, PCP, wife, and community to get him into a facility to properly manage his meds and current medical conditions. These tough cases come around once in a great while. It is truly a great nurse who can take ownership and see a patient through his tough time to get him to a better place. Allision is truly a great nurse and a leader in case management. She doesn’t give up or look the other way when time is needed beyond a nursing visit. She truly cares for her patients.
