Maura is an incredible Clinical Coordinator on our unit. She has worked on Labor and Delivery for about 30 years and her dedication and passion for our work always show. She can always make our unit run flawlessly in the most stressful situations and works well with all other disciplines to coordinate care for our patients. We often refer to getting attendings, residents, anesthesia techs, and nurses together as herding cats – but Maura always manages it. She supports her staff in any way that she can for us to provide great care to our patients and every patient she takes care of directly loves her.

For example, we were very busy one day and one of my patients was young and critically ill with no support at the bedside. She took my other patient from me so that I could focus all my time and attention on the patient who really needed it. Additionally, she is a great educator to both patients and staff. She trained me to be a charge nurse and her education helped me immensely.

I hope that one day I can live up to her standards as a charge nurse. She also always keeps it light and makes us laugh. Maura is an incredible asset to our unit and has been for decades. In my opinion, she exemplifies a DAISY Nurse.
