My dad is currently in your hospital. I have been with him but have had to go back home to Baltimore. I wanted to let you know that his night nurse, Alexa, is AMAZING! She sat down with me for 10 minutes and listened to me talk about my dad's day shift nurse who left him sedated all day because they were going to do a trach the next day. I voiced my concerns to Alexa and she listened calmly and was very compassionate. I left to go to the hotel and came back the next morning; she had him off sedation! Because of Alexa he did not need the trach which was a major concern because of bleeding; my father is on two blood thinners. Alexa stayed with him after her shift to make sure that when they took the breathing tube out, he was good. I just wanted you to know how amazing she is. Mainly all of the nurses have been amazing. I just feel like Alexa went above and beyond and listened to my concerns. She understood that the trach was a major thing with his risk of bleeding. She made it her goal to get my dad off sedation and the ventilator so he would not need the trach, and she did it!
