Randi is an exceptional nurse and one of the sweetest people that I’ve ever encountered. As Unit-Based Educator and charge nurse, she is responsible for many duties while providing caring, compassionate, patient-centered care. She is one true definition of a leader. She positively influences others because she leads by example. Randi is always willing to help her co-workers when there is a need and many times, she helps without them asking for it. Her positive attitude, loyalty, and passion for her work all define her character.

I’ve witnessed a day when a patient’s spouse arrived at the nurse’s station with great concerns for his wife’s poor prognosis. The husband had many questions and concerns. Randi addressed all of the gentleman’s needs and provided emotional support for approximately thirty minutes. Although she had 6 patients in that particular day, she treated that family member as if he was her only concern at that time. She was responsive and she listened to him.

On a different day, I texted her on a day she was not scheduled to work about a question regarding a nursing skill. She responded within seconds and said, “Call me and we can figure it out together.” She was so supportive, and this meant so much to me because of her willingness to help resolve a matter when not even at work. On many occasions, Randi has shown her dedication to her unit, the patients, and their loved ones. Randi simply has a beautiful spirit and goes above and beyond to help others.
