We were experiencing one of the most important life-altering events with the birth of our first child and Nurse Jamie made sure it was the best experience. Doctors often get the credit for the safe arrival of a healthy baby while labor and delivery nurses have spent the majority of the time caring for the laboring mama, making her comfortable, and monitoring the baby closely. That is exactly how our nurse cared for us. Jamie walked into the room with a comforting smile and immediately asked us what our concerns and questions were. She took the time to explain how the induction worked and quickly developed trust with us. While most women share horror stories of their labor, I am fortunate enough to refer to my delivery as the best experience. Jamie was a fairy godmother who cracked jokes, calmed nerves, and gave support when needed. When it came time to deliver, I had no doubt that I could do it with Jamie’s coaching and the support of my husband. Jamie is an exceptional nurse and a remarkable person who is worthy of the DAISY Award and more.
