Her gentle, compassionate and professional manner establishes a trusting relationship with the families/caregivers.
Leah is always sharing her 25 plus years of knowledge. She is a Master prepared RN who fosters others and strengthens them as professionals. She runs SIM Labs for the staff and does small staff teachings throughout the year. Her participation in outside Webinars allows her to be up to date with best practices for the neonatal population. She always communicates this knowledge with the staff. Additionally, Leah teaches the caregivers all the necessary skills needed for a safe discharge. Leah facilitates daily ICC rounds in the NICU making sure our neonates receive the best care.

Her gentle, compassionate and professional manner establishes a trusting relationship with the families/caregivers. Leah takes the time to educate and guide all of the healthcare team. She is a great support clinically and often comes in on her off hours/days to help out with a challenging patient.

As an educator, Leah uses the framework of Patricia Benner; from novice to expert. She provides practical knowledge through research and understanding the know-how of clinical experience. As a result, the novice nurses help develop nursing knowledge and development of skills. The acuity of our neonatal population has elevated over the past decade. Recently, Leah has implemented best practice clinical standards for Neuroprotection, Positioning, and Developmental care to our fragile babies. Leah is committed to providing the best care to our neonates.

She always has a smile on her face and approaches the families/caregivers with respect and dignity. Leah demonstrates compassion, kindness, and respect for diversity. She is a good listener, respectful and non-judgmental, and demonstrates a strong moral compass.

She is a knowledgeable and well-respected educator/leader with physicians and nurses alike. Leah provides an opportunity for all nurses to clinically practice in a safe nurturing environment. She offers Simulation labs for all staff as well as small group educational days for annual clinical competencies. She is able to critically think and collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high-quality care to our neonates.
