Sylvia Sanchez is a nurse practitioner as well as a nursing leader. She has multiple management roles in a variety of medical settings and has trained numerous nursing students, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners by using her extraordinary professionalism and leadership skills. Sylvia is knowledgeable, compassionate, caring, and a hardworking nurse leader who patiently listens to what we have to say and cares about the welfare of her patients and staff. Sylvia is a big contributor to the academic development of the Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors Program. She always encourages and supports our professional growth. Silvia approaches every case with a calm, kind and open mind. Whenever I had the opportunity to go out on the field with Silvia, to visit a patient, it has always led me to a new deeper understanding of our project goals and principles; every day is a learning experience with Silvia. I am very fortunate to have her as my supervisor. She goes above and beyond for us and anyone in the department. She encourages all nurses to be engaged in committees and nursing research projects. She is an excellent leader and problem solver. No matter how difficult or challenging a patient may be, she is always so compassionate and will find ways to help them.
