Kim knew that this shouldn't be happening and started trying to brew a cocktail that would get me ahead of the pain instead of chasing it.
I was in for a total knee replacement! I left the recovery room and was in a room overnight on the 5th floor. There was a bit of confusion with transferring medication from the recovery room and the patient's room, very hard to explain in the hospital jargon since I have no medical experience. With this said, I was told to keep ahead of the pain. This, however, is not in my hands, it's in the hand of I'm guessing my head nurse and hospital physician. Every time I was in pain, they had to find out what I was prescribed, when it was too soon, asking me what my pain level was, and it was clearly a steady 10. I really thought I was going to expire due to the pain level and then the following day a very motivated, intelligent, determined nurse walked into my room.

Kim knew that this shouldn't be happening and started trying to brew a cocktail that would get me ahead of the pain instead of chasing it. She talked to my doctor, the physician in charge, and continued the regimen until finally, I had relief. She truly went above and beyond to help me. She had so much empathy for my pain and knew this should not be happening. If she hadn't taken the bull by the horn, I'm sure I would still be there. This experience is not what anyone should have to go through, but because of Kimberly, she is truly an angel on earth. Such an amazing crew, thank you Kim. "The struggle is real." I thank God for people like you!
