I had a c-section at Piedmont recently. On the second day of my stay, I had concerns for my newborn as to why he was no longer latching on to nurse every 2-3 hours. All the nursing staff provided excellent care and support but this nurse (with 20+ years of experience) was very warm and compassionate. I think she knew I was worried and she came to my rescue. Loria was calm, nurturing, empathetic, supportive, and knowledgeable, and just made me feel like I was her only patient. She helped to decrease my stress level by providing me with assistive resources to help me and my newborn overcome some of the uncertainty I had. She provided me with one-on-one education on how to use the breast pump (even how to set it up). She also reassured me why pumping would help stimulate milk production since my milk had not come in and my newborn was not sucking and latching on. Loria came every time I called. She followed through and she smiled. She was courteous, she was and is an angel.

As a fellow RN, I know what it takes to be an outstanding nurse and how important it is to make your patient feel like they are your priority. Loria has over 20 years as an OB nurse and she exhibits confidence, knowledge, and experience. Loria was heaven sent and so was the entire staff of nurses, but this nurse made me feel extra cared for just because I feel she went above and beyond to take the time to speak with me, teach, educate me and comfort me during a very, very exciting yet anxiety filled experience of becoming a new mom all over again. Thank you! We should all be so blessed to have been a patient of yours.
