He spent countless moments educating visiting and ensuring my husband remained comfortable when I couldn’t be around.
My husband needed immediate care while traveling back home. He had been diagnosed and treated for cellulitis before we left our previous destination. We were doing our best to get home and back to work but he became more ill on the road and requested immediate attention. Our closest hospital was an hour away here in Ridgecrest. We checked him into the ER where he had phenomenal care from the nurses and doctors. His lab work indicated a massive infection that required IV antibiotics. He was admitted to the floor in order to have a consult with the surgeon. Initially, it was believed he would have a couple of days of antibiotics and we could continue our journey home. The consult with the surgeon would change that and the best course of action would be an I & D.
The wound care nurse has been a part of the case since day one. She thoughtfully has swung by throughout the day to check on both myself and hubby. With the weekend approaching and our request to try to return home, she spent time educating us about wound care and providing the necessary supplies. She also kept in contact during the surgery and provided updates.
Our initial day nurse provided such encouragement and even though not assigned the following days continued to swing by and check on both of us. Kimo his night nurse is a phenomenal provider (especially as no visits were allowed at night). He spent countless moments educating visiting and ensuring my husband remained comfortable when I couldn’t be around. As a fellow nurse, it was so encouraging to see the amount of care above and beyond being provided.
