While there are so many deserving nurses that I get the pleasure of working beside, there's one that I always find myself thinking - this guy deserves to be recognized, he is a special kind of nurse. Mickey is a nurse in the Adult Emergency Department. He works in every aspect of the department. He is not only an outstanding nurse (we will get back to that), he is hands down an amazing human being. He is open and friendly to all. He speaks to everyone with respect and leaves you feeling lighter. He is quick with a "hey bud" or a "good morning friend."

He is a leader in the department. There's a quote: A person who is quietly confident makes the best leader. This is Mickey. While either in a Trauma Code One or taking care of a patient in the hallway, he exudes this quiet confidence that makes you feel like everything is going to be ok, providing a calm atmosphere and a sense of peace in a chaos-filled department. He is patient, kind, and compassionate. He speaks to each of his patients like he's speaking to an important family member. He is direct with his care, explains the expectations, speaks in terms and examples that patients can understand, and is quick to answer any questions. He is the nurse you want when it's your life on the line. He is thorough in his work and extremely knowledgeable about emergency medicine. He is an advocate for his patients and the team member that has your 6. Mickey is everything a DAISY Nurse is and more. Thank you for your consideration in highlighting this very deserving person.
