My mom spent about three weeks at NYU Hospital bouncing back and forth from ICU to Gp3. Filipe is a nurse that my mother had the pleasure of having take care of her several times during her stay. My mom passed away and three days prior, my mother was not doing well, she was begging me not to leave her. Filipe didn’t even hesitate. He asked the manager on the floor if it was OK if I stayed that night in her room. He saw how upset she was and how nervous I was to leave her. I can’t thank him enough. A few hours later my Mom wasn’t responding to care. Shortly after that, she went on a vent, and a few days later she passed away. The fact that he cared so much throughout her stay when she was bouncing back and forth was amazing, the fact that he knew that I should stay was even more amazing because that was the last night I spoke to my mother. If it wasn’t for him allowing me to stay I would’ve been there for her and her last waking moment. So I will never be able to repay Filipe for what he did for me. My mother received amazing care while she was there from every nurse but Filipe I was able to read his patient and me and knew how important it was for me to be there that night. I will be forever grateful for the compassion and care that my mother received from him for what was to be her final days.
