He showed such compassion to the patient’s relatives and went above and beyond to support their needs whilst ensuring the patient's dignity was maintained.
We had an oncology patient who sadly passed away in the ICU today. I had been in the unit before she had passed and cannot find a nurse to explain to me what was happening to the patient. Raymond approached me and explained what was happening, he then went out of his way to create a safe place, away from the ICU, in silence, for the patient's relatives to go and grieve with dignity. He also took the time to speak to us and explain what had happened even on the morning shift when I knew he was busy. He showed such compassion to the patient’s relatives and went above and beyond to support their needs whilst ensuring the patient's dignity was maintained. This moment really meant a lot to me, showing the small changes being implemented across the hospital on the importance of end-of-life care, but also displaying the clear commitment Raymond has to his patients.
