Brenda demands excellence from herself and her staff. She is always working with the staff to find ways to improve care for the best possible outcomes for their patients.
Role models extraordinary behavior. Brenda is a wonderful leader who leads by example. She shows such compassion and commitment to her staff and the patients they care for. Brenda sets high expectations for her staff. She is there and available for them when needed. Many times Brenda stays late and even comes in on the weekends to meet with her staff and follow up on any of their concerns.
Creates an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development and ethical behavior are modeled and supported. Brenda has one on one meetings with her staff monthly and ensures they are aware of what is going on in the organization as well as ensuring they are being heard. She often notifies leaders of her staff’s concerns and is prompt to follow up. Brenda is kind and compassionate with her caregivers and her patients. Brenda has several certifications as well as completing her MSN. She is most recently certified in Executive Nursing Leadership.
Motivates staff with a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes for themselves and for their patients. Brenda has served Covenant Medical Center for many years. During this time, she has served with compassion and respect. Brenda demands excellence from herself and her staff. Brenda works with the urology physicians and her educator to ensure they can help throughout the facility. She has helped to develop the DUC team and this program has really helped throughout the organization. Brenda has received great scores in the Caregiver Engagement Survey as well.
Promotes and enhances the image of nursing within the organization, the community, and the profession. Brenda is an advocate for Covenant Medical Center. She has served in many leadership roles at Covenant during her tenure here. She works with the schools of nursing to promote the education of students in the schools of nursing, she is active in the LCU alumni association and is an advocate for animals throughout our community. She is also active in the ALTRUSA Organization in Lubbock, which serves to lead to a better community. Brenda has also been selected as one of the South Plains Great 25 Nurses recently.
Additional comments: Brenda strives for excellence on her unit. She has worked to ensure her units meet the quality goals of CAUTI, CLABSI, Falls, and Nursing Communication. Brenda has a wonderful sense of humor and works hard to ensure even in difficult times we have some humor to motivate all to continue forward.
