I went into the Emergency Room and was admitted the same day. I was put on the Pediatric floor and I am so glad I was. I got admitted for colitis and diverticulitis and C-diff was a bonus as I have a weak end immune system. So I was put in isolation with contact precautions. I got to the floor and was immediately met by Karrie. Now let me say I have been a patient many times before but never have I ever been greeted by such a sweet nurse. She introduced herself and made me comfortable.

I was nervous and scared and being in isolation she never made me feel like I was alone. She treated me with the utmost dignity and respect. Her kind personality and her way of making you feel better are impressive. I had to call on her a few times and she never made me feel like I was bothering her. Although very busy she made a point to check on me and even when she needed to take my vitals and give me meds she never came into the room loudly. She understood what it was to be a patient and showed nothing but compassion and caring. I know that is what nurses do but she was exceptional.

She also explained everything that was going on and what was next she was super at keeping me informed the best she could and as you know waiting for answers is the hardest thing. I had other nurses talk to other staff all night about their lives and vacations and they don't realize when you’re a patient that doesn't sound good that they focused more on an upcoming vacation. But not Karrie she still focused on her patients.

I want to thank Karrie for being there for me and showing me what a true nurse is. I could never be more appreciative of her and I really think she deserves to be recognized for the care she showed me as being alone was not fun and it was scary. It wasn't just myself she helped her co-workers and other patients as well with the same attitude. Thank you Karrie for making my stay so much better especially being so isolated and scared! Thank you MVHS for having such a wonderful person working for you!
