Tatum is often seen in the department helping her team by caring for patients and assisting with any task that is needed while always maintaining a positive attitude. On this particular day, a patient that was taken to PACU was exhibiting signs of distress following her procedure. The patient was having difficulty breathing and appeared to be very fearful and anxious. Tatum came to the bedside immediately upon recognition of the situation. She assisted her team in providing care for the patient and the needed interventions. However, during this time, I was overwhelmed by the compassion and reassurance Tatum provided to this patient. Tatum said to her "we aren't going to leave you. We are right here with you." Her sincere and loving words were the perfect "medicine" this patient needed during this tearful time. Tatum deserves to be recognized as not only an Extraordinary Nurse but a leader. Sincere thank you for all you do for your patients and team.
