Brian made his extremely stressful job look easy and that made my mother feel safe.
While at work today, I received the call that every child of an elderly parent fears, my mom was being taken by ambulance to the hospital. I was able to speak with my mom on the phone before she was transported and the fear in her voice was heart-wrenching. I left work praying that God would bless my mom with a kind and competent nurse who would ease her fears until I was able to be with her. When I arrived at the hospital, I found my mom comfortable in her bed with a calm spirit. The first thing she said to me was “I have a really nice nurse”. Shortly after that, I met Brian, RN. He came into my mom’s room and even though he had his mask on it was easy to see the smile in his eyes. Brian was kind and patient with my mom the entire time he cared for her, from helping her to the restroom quickly (she has urgency issues) to removing her IV and explaining her new medications. He took the time to keep me updated on test results, all without making us feel rushed. Brian made his extremely stressful job look easy and that made my mother feel safe. Sometimes thank you does not feel like enough and this is one of those times! Brian, I pray that you never lose your compassion for your patients. You are a wonderful nurse and so deserve to be recognized as such.
