My father had an eye surgery (not at Banner) which was scheduled to fix an eyelid issue. Within 5 hours we were advised to go to the emergency department by the Banner nurse 24/7 call. So, we were in the triage area and then moved to an emergency room. Later we moved to the 6th floor. Days later we were moved again to the 5th floor. My father was now diagnosed with Pneumonia. Throughout these multiple days and multiple moves one nurse clearly stood out. There was no question about her knowledge and skills. Those were evident from the beginning. What made her so different was the level of compassion and care she provided. My father is 88, mostly deaf without his hearing aids, and is showing signs of dementia. Not the easiest patient. Also, I see how busy everyone was and the rapid pace of care that is required for multiple patients. In the midst of all of this, Ariana was able to provide excellent care to us. She also showed a calming, caring presence. She made you feel important and that you were the complete focus at that time. For someone to be able to provide such calming, caring attention in such an extremely busy environment; she does what she says. She is able to establish a very strong sense of trust. Her ability to calmly help my father and help him to relax is amazing. She also showed concern and care for me as a visitor. To be able to handle the level of requests required and make patients feel so cared about (and not forgotten), in a calming compassionate way is a skill I don’t see often. Ariana excels in this area! My father and I are extremely appreciative of the sincere care we received!!
