Emily is absolutely one of the most deserving nurses of this award. I have only been a nurse for about 5 years but I have never met a nurse that goes more "above and beyond" for their patients than she.

The one situation that truly showed her commitment to her patients and her job was a pediatric patient we had in Dermatology that had gotten a very uncommon diagnosis. The patient's mom called us after she was referred to us by their pediatrician who was unsure how to treat this condition. Our doctor was unsure of how to treat this as well and suggested a procedure that we do not offer at our facility. Emily spent about a week calling different facilities around the tri-state area trying to find a facility that would do this procedure on a pediatric patient. She kept in contact with the mom during the whole process and was so empathetic and a calming voice for this upset parent. She was unable to find a facility that would do the procedure but discussed different possible options with our doctor and the parents and eventually found an option. She was such a comfort to the parent and they expressed their gratefulness. She could have just told the family we do not offer these services and you will need to call around to see who does but she took it upon herself to help the family out.

Emily is always the first to work at the last to leave she makes sure everything always runs smoothly she does so much behind the scenes that I feel like she doesn't always get recognized for her hard work. She is the epitome of an excellent nurse and she DESERVES the recognition.
